U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN) issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released employment data for September:
"While the creation of new private-sector jobs is welcome news, millions of Americans still face an uphill battle in the search for work. Threats of higher taxes, more spending, and new regulatory burdens from Washington have left employers paralyzed by uncertainty, unable to hire or invest because they simply don’t know what’s coming next.
“Recent actions by the president’s National Labor Relations Board have dramatically increased pressure on business owners, making it even more difficult to create jobs and plan for the future. This activist agenda is wreaking havoc on our workforce, and it must be stopped.
“House Republicans are fighting to hold the board accountable for its job-destroying actions. This week, we introduced the Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act, which will protect employers’ free speech and workers’ free choice. This legislation is just one component of our efforts to support our nation’s job-creators and foster a pro-growth environment. It’s time our Democrat counterparts stopped doubling-down on the same failed tax-and-spend policies of the past and joined us in enacting real solutions to the challenges facing the American people."
