U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairman John Kline (R-MN) issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released employment data for February:
“In the aftermath of the worst recession in a generation, to learn that more Americans are back to work is welcome news. However, we have a long way to go to fully repair the damage of the recent economic downturn. The slow pace of job growth illustrates that many employers are still struggling with uncertainty, sparked in large part by punitive federal regulations and unsustainable deficit spending.
“I am disappointed the president continues to add to job creators’ woes by releasing a budget blueprint stuffed with costly campaign promises that do little to encourage investment and promote economic stability. After three years of failed policies, the administration’s enduring commitment to a flawed tax-and-spend agenda is deeply discouraging.
“Actions speak louder than words, and right now, the president continues to show he is on the side of more government – not the nation’s employers. Yesterday, the House of Representatives approved another bipartisan jobs bill that will help encourage small business job creation. The legislation joins nearly 30 more bipartisan jobs bills stalled in the Senate. It is time for the Senate to act and the president to lead.”
