Roe Statement on November Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
December 7, 2012
U.S. House Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions Chairman Phil Roe (R-TN) issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released employment data for November: Job creation remains slow as economic uncertainty continues to weigh down the nation’s workforce. The difficult reality reflected today’s jobs report will worsen if we plunge over the fiscal cliff. It’s time President Obama offered a responsible plan to prevent the job-destroying tax increases and arbitrary spending cuts set to hit middle-class families and small businesses in a few short weeks. Republicans have offered a bipartisan framework to begin addressing our fiscal crisis, one that will reduce spending, reform the tax code, and preserve entitlements. If the president believes it is in the country’s best interest to avoid the fiscal cliff, he will offer his own bipartisan plan immediately. The partisan gamesmanship and political posturing must stop.
