Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after the Biden administration released an interim final regulation implementing bipartisan legislation passed by Congress last year banning surprise out-of-network medical billing:
“For far too long, unexpected medical bills have been a significant financial and emotional hardship for sick and suffering Americans. I am encouraged that the Biden administration is working in a timely manner to issue regulatory guidance on the No Surprises Act that Congress passed last year under President Trump.
“During these uncertain times, it is more important than ever to ensure that we are doing all we can to uplift the American people and their families. I hope that my colleagues on both sides of the aisle are ready to work together to ensure that this new rule succeeds in shielding patients from surprise medical bills and saves hard earned taxpayer dollars. I look forward to the administration’s ongoing efforts to ensure that surprise medical billing is ended once and for all.”
