WASHINGTON – Today, Education and Labor Committee Republican Leader Virginia Foxx (R-NC) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) announced its final rule to increase the minimum wage for federal contract workers to $15 an hour:
“Mandating a $15 minimum wage for federal contractors will cost jobs, forcing additional burdens on small businesses.
“With months of forced shutdowns, inflation, a supply chain crisis, and a labor shortage, many job creators are trying to keep their heads above water—this move by the Biden administration will mean many never catch their breath.
“Every step of the way, the Biden administration is making the wrong decisions when it comes to the economy. The President is too busy trying to appease his progressive base and unions bosses to think about what’s best for the American people. Instead of attacking small businesses, the Biden administration should focus on supporting job creators and getting Americans back to work.”
