Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), chairwoman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, issued the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Alexander Acosta as Secretary of Labor:
America’s workers and employers desperately need a new direction at the Department of Labor. That day has finally come. I wish to congratulate Alexander Acosta on his confirmation to serve as labor secretary. This is an important responsibility that requires taking on powerful special interests and restoring fairness and balance to federal labor policies.
The committee has already made important progress in our efforts to overturn partisan rules and regulations, protect the retirement security of hardworking Americans, and improve flexibility in the workplace. We look forward to working with Secretary Acosta to build on these efforts and empower working families and small businesses to succeed and prosper.
