Today, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), the Republican Leader of the House Committee on Education and Labor, and Rep. John Moolenaar (R-MI), the co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Education Innovation and Opportunity, announced their House Resolution celebrating this week as National School Choice Week.
“A high-quality education is an indispensable tool, and America’s children deserve an education that empowers them to reach their greatest potential,” said Foxx. “By providing families with the freedom to choose the best educational options that meet their child’s unique needs, these young men and women will be equipped with the tools they need to achieve their dreams. School choice is paramount. Period. Children are facing serious setbacks due to a lack of in-person instruction, and it’s imperative that they do not fall further behind. It’s past time for parents to have the option to safely send their children back to the classroom, rather than being forced to accept a one-size-fits-all government mandate. I’m honored to join my friend and colleague, Rep. Moolenaar, in recognizing this week as National School Choice Week and advocating for effective educational options for every child.”
“Students have never been more eager to return to the classroom than they are right now and school choice is vital to helping them pursue the opportunities that are best for them,” said Moolenaar. “This pandemic has shown how parents, students, and educators are willing to innovate and create new opportunities for learning, and we should support them as they make decisions that are best for them and their future. Their resiliency has been inspiring and I am proud to join them and Congresswoman Foxx this week in supporting educational choice for America’s students.”
