Quick Take: Republicans Rise to the Challenge to Protect Women & Girls
WASHINGTON, D.C.,
April 17, 2025
Female athletes finally have an ally in the White House.
Yesterday, the Department of Justice announced a lawsuit against the Maine Department of Education for its continued push to allow biological males to compete against women and girls—in spite of the Trump administration’s executive order to protect female athletes. This is a stark contrast to the previous administration. The Biden-Harris Department of Education worked tirelessly to rewrite Title IX and redefine sex based on “gender identity,” forcing women to share bathrooms and locker rooms with biological males. Democrats pushed this radical, out-of-touch agenda as female athletes like Payton McNabb were seriously injured by biological males. For half a century, Title IX has prohibited discrimination of the basis of sex and protected opportunities for women and girls; since the law went into effect, female participation in sports has increased over 1,000 percent at the high school level and over 600 percent at the college level. Yet, by allowing biological males to compete against women and girls, progressives are working to undo the progress achieved by Title IX. An overwhelming majority of Americans oppose this radical gender ideology, and the Trump administration is listening to the American people. Republicans and the Trump administration understand that actions taken by states like Maine strip opportunities away from women and girls—and we won’t stand for it. This lawsuit represents another strong step in the Trump administration’s efforts to protect safe and fair competition for female athletes and proves—yet again—Republicans will never stop fighting for women and girls. |
